6 Surprising similarities between Crystals and Libraries
Two of my most favorite things are books and crystals.
There are countless similarities between crystals and libraries even if they seem like they belong in disparate worlds.
No matter how much we might think we “buy” crystals we really only borrow them from Mother Earth while we are in our meat suits here on Earth.
From this idea of borrowing and enjoying crystals Mariah’s Crystal Library was born.
As a former middle school teacher and lover of books and crystals, I couldn’t resist comparing two of my favorite things for you!

Beauty: Naturally created under the Earth’s surface crystals are admired for their stunning beauty. While libraries are home to stunning works of art imagined and written by the world’s authors.
Exploration: Crystals and libraries can both inspire a sense of exploration and discovery. Crystal keepers may travel far and wide in search of rare specimens, while researchers may spend years delving into the depths of a library's collections. Both allow for the deeper discovery of life’s magnificence.
Rarity: Certain types of crystals and rare books are highly prized and sought after for their unique properties and historical significance.
Knowledge: Both crystals and libraries are associated with knowledge and learning. Crystals have been used in spiritual practices for centuries, while libraries contain a vast wealth of information and scholarship. There is always more to learn from crystals and libraries.
Illumination: Crystals not only can refract light and create gorgeous light patterns but they illuminate the vibrations of Earth’s ancient memories. Libraries illuminate humanity and our memories.
Story: Crystals and the books libraries hold are the embodiment of story. The keeping and sharing of stories is arguably what makes our human experience exceptional. Both crystalline and written stories open us to the possibilities of a life better than we could have ever imagined. Story connects us to each other and something bigger than ourselves making life meaningful.
Whether you're a crystal collector or a book lover, it's clear that these two worlds are more alike than they seem at first glance.
